What is a Short Sale? Put simply, a short sale is the sale of a home in which the amount owed to the lender (or in many cases muliple lenders) is more the amount that the home can be sold for. Instead of the home owner having to bring in money or pay out of pocket to complete the sale, the sale of the home is completed through negotiations with the existing lender(s) in which the lender(s) agree to accept less than the full amount owed to satisfy the debt and allow it to be “paid off,” short.
By accepting the short sale, the lender is able to avoid the lengthy and costly foreclosure process and the client is able to able to avoide foreclosure, save their credit, and get out from the burden of their home.
